Gravity

January 15th, 2018

This week we started our new Science topic- Forces.

We started by looking at gravity and finding out about who discovered it  – Sir Isaac Newton.

We then investigated the relationship between weight and mass by using force meters (Newton meters) to measure different objects. We discovered that 1 Newton is equal to 100g.

Creative Homework!

November 22nd, 2017

The children are so enthusiastic about our topic- ‘In A Galaxy far Faraway’ that we have decided to set a creative homework. We will discuss the options for this as a class.

In a Galaxy Far Faraway

November 22nd, 2017

Our new topic is a Science based topic – In A Galaxy Far Farway…

We have already discussed how we know that the Earth Sun and Moon are roughly spherical. We have also started to study the planets in our Solar System.

We used ‘Speed Dating’ to find out about the planets. We had just 2 minutes to read and memorize facts about each planet before we moved onto the next one. Once we had done this we then had to recall as many facts as possible.

Some of us develop effective ways to memorize facts, including repeating the fact and finding visual clues to help us.

Science – Exercise and Fitness

November 14th, 2017

To finish off our Heart topic in Science we worked in a group to design a circuit of exercises to promote good heart and body health. We then swapped our circuits with another group and tested them out. It was great fun and everyone collaborated beautifully! Some circuits were more challenging than others.

Pulse investigation

November 14th, 2017

As part of our science topic we conducted an investigation to find out the effect exercise has on our pulse rate. It was quite challenging finding our pulses, but once we had we enjoyed checking our pulse after every activity and analysing the results.

Terrific Scientific

‘Secondly for  terrific scientific, we did the bleep test. This test is really hard and a lot of people ended up out of breath. Some people did the recording for the people that were doing the bleep test, this was quite  hard because it got to a high speed.  For the bleep test we had to run 20 meters back and forth. we had spread it over two days because we didn’t have time on the first day. next we we have to do the control test.’

Thank you to the children who wrote this for us.

Groovy Greeks

September 7th, 2017

We were posed a problem to find out what our new topic was.

We had to decipher a message written in a different language, which turned out to be Greek.

We recognised familiar letters and decoded it without too much trouble, it said:

Our new topic is Ancient Greece.

We then wrote our names in Greek.

We thought about what we wanted to find out about Ancient Greece and wrote questions.
