Greek Day

November 14th, 2017

To finish off our topic we held a Greek Theme day. Here’s what we got up to:

  • Dressing up
  • Food tasting
  • Story of Theseus and the Minotaur
  • Made Labyrinths out of paper, lego and ropes
  • Made Greek Theatre masks

We had a really fun day and it was a fun end to our topic. Thank you for all the support given to the children to make their costumes.

Greek Art

September 20th, 2017

As you can see from the photos we had a very messy but fun art lesson today. We started to make Ancient Greek inspired pots out of papier mache. We used a balloon as our base and layered the gluey paper on top. We pegged them up to dry ready for the next layer next week. We’ll keep you updated on how they progress.

Pandora’s Box

September 14th, 2017

In English we have been focusing on the Greek Myth – Pandora’s Box.

We have watched a video , read the story, produced a comic strip, retold it orally and written it in our own words in Write Stuff.

So we are now experts in the story of Pandora’s Box!

We have also started to read our class novel – ‘The Fire Thief’ by Terry Deary-which has already got us hooked.

Groovy Greeks

September 7th, 2017

We were posed a problem to find out what our new topic was.

We had to decipher a message written in a different language, which turned out to be Greek.

We recognised familiar letters and decoded it without too much trouble, it said:

Our new topic is Ancient Greece.

We then wrote our names in Greek.

We thought about what we wanted to find out about Ancient Greece and wrote questions.
