Class Worship – Justice-Listening to both sides

September 20th, 2017

In class worship this week we created a courtroom situation. We decided to discuss whether children should have to go to school or not. We had two children to represent each side of the argument and the rest of the class were the jury. In the end the class voted FOR going to school.

We linked this into our worship theme of Justice through the idea that to be just and make just decisions we need to see both sides and have all the information.

Greek Art

September 20th, 2017

As you can see from the photos we had a very messy but fun art lesson today. We started to make Ancient Greek inspired pots out of papier mache. We used a balloon as our base and layered the gluey paper on top. We pegged them up to dry ready for the next layer next week. We’ll keep you updated on how they progress.

Daily Mile

September 14th, 2017

WOW!

Together we managed to run 49.5 miles last week.

We are aiming to beat each previous week’s total…better get running!

Pandora’s Box

September 14th, 2017

In English we have been focusing on the Greek Myth – Pandora’s Box.

We have watched a video , read the story, produced a comic strip, retold it orally and written it in our own words in Write Stuff.

So we are now experts in the story of Pandora’s Box!

We have also started to read our class novel – ‘The Fire Thief’ by Terry Deary-which has already got us hooked.

Aim for Justice

September 14th, 2017

Our class worship this week was to choose an element of our worship theme –  justice –  to focus on for the coming week. We all had an arrow which we named and coloured in. We then attached it to a  dartboard that had a ring for every letter of justice – each one representing the separate themes.Next week we will share how we got on putting justice into action.

Communion act of Worship

September 14th, 2017

Thank you so much to everyone who was able to attend our whole school communion on Friday last week. Our contribution was to use actions to accompany the song ‘ In Remembrance of Me’ by Cheri Keaggy.

The children’s act of worship was beautifully and thoughtfully done – well done Sycamore Class.

You are all very special children indeed.

🙂

The Daily Mile

September 7th, 2017

We have already been pounding the new running track and have managed to notch up quite a few laps.

It’s not just about keeping fit – it’s also about boosting our own confidence and that of our classmates, developing perseverance and enjoying being outside in the fresh air.

We are challenging ourselves to run everyday, we’ll let you know how we get on!

Communion

September 7th, 2017

We look forward to seeing you all at 2pm on Friday for the Communion service – we can’t wait to share our presentation with you!

Groovy Greeks

September 7th, 2017

We were posed a problem to find out what our new topic was.

We had to decipher a message written in a different language, which turned out to be Greek.

We recognised familiar letters and decoded it without too much trouble, it said:

Our new topic is Ancient Greece.

We then wrote our names in Greek.

We thought about what we wanted to find out about Ancient Greece and wrote questions.
